A comparison of two poems on birds
In literature, nature has always been considered an important issue. As a natural object, the birds must be called poetry. In fact, many poets have written many beautiful poems about birds. Birds are often used as symbols in the poem. For example, in the Bengali literature of the cuckoo is often associated with spring. In English literature there are many poems about animals or pets are written plays a major role in poetry.
For example, Ode to a Nightingalewritten by John Keats and "Ode to a Skylark Shelley two famous poems of birds. Another verse, the Rime of the Ancient Mariner Samuel Taylor Coleridge, the poet, the Albatross was used as a symbol. According to the requirement of the task I chose Nightingale John Keats Ode and Rime of the Ancient Mariner STColeridge of my discussion.
Before discussing these two poems that I had to shed light onboth poets and romance in English literature as a whole. Romanticism in literature in English is a unique moment, because at this age all the poets have created poetry in their nature and related topics. Nature is the most important aspect of his poetry. Before them, no poet can not see nature as the main theme of a poem. The Romantic poets have successfully completed this subject. Consequently, all the great poems about birds in this age group. John Keats was a romantic poetadored the beauty of nature in his poetry. Natural objects are alive and well in his poetry, but do not treat them as inanimate objects of nature. Instead, create your personal emotion and creates a personal bond with them.
He also expressed his personal feelings as joy, sadness, hope and frustration, etc. in his poems. In Ode to a Nightingale Keats's desire, a harsh reality that can not tolerate words escape. He wants to enter theNightingale and fly in dreams.
STColeridge also touched on the supernatural elements of nature and has a very natural way. Coleridge had an innate sense of storytelling and imagination could have imagined the great thing miraculous, and then described in more natural. Ancient Mariner in Coleridge's ballad goes on to describe the life of a Marine who killed an albatross and sufferedkill huge. The poem is based on the reaction to the killing of the albatross. A bird is a beautiful creation of God and the death of the albatross for no reason the sailor had committed a grave sin against God.
It was not until the men of the twentieth century has taught a bird has been discovered before the aircraft were always men to fly with the idea of flying like a bird fascinated. According to Greek mythology, Daedalus and Icarus tried to imitate the birds and artificialWings to fly. Their efforts failed in the tragedy. So the concept of flight was a dream of humanity in the twentieth century, people were surprised because the birds can fly in the sky. The poets also appreciated in this matter and spirit wanted to fly with them. We see this dynamic in Keats' Ode to a Nightingale. The life of John Keats was a tragic and untimely death of the disease. E 'was also discouraging to see that a lady was not successful, butmisery and in his time, some influential critics criticized his poems in the worst way possible. Thus, life was very unfortunate for John Keats.
During his life he tried to escape suffering and Ode to a Nightingale, we see a desperate attempt to escape the cruel world Keats hard around him. He believes that the nightingale is very happy, you can fly anywhere. At the beginning of this poem, he refers to his miserable condition:
My heart achesand drowsy numbness pains
My feeling, as if he drank the hemlock,
Or emptied some dull opiate sewer
A minute later, and Lethe-stations fell:
Here it is evident that the poet has suffered a lot when he wrote this poem. Life is just too much pain feels as if he drank the hemlock and opium. He wants to forget all the pain and happiness in the happiness of the nightingale.
For Coleridge, the albatross is a dead end, but a sacredand beautiful creation of God brings joy to the sailors. Sailors have many lonely days spent at sea during the journey. And they often feel very alone and do not have a chance to see a sign of life around them for days:
"Finally, through an albatross,
Through the fog it came;
As if it had been a Christian soul,
Welcome in the name of God
So if you see an albatross that is comfortable and we hope that the earth is over them. The sameWhat happened to the companions of the Ancient Mariner. When the albatross greeted him warmly, and saw that there was to eat and play with him. Sun introduced the Albatros company for them. With the arrival of the albatross that loneliness takes flight on them. Coleridge has made this bird as a friend and the like.
Both poems are used symbolically very intelligent. Coleridge used the technique of the voluntary suspension of the doubtthe reader to forget the real world and the world may believe that the poet must be real. The plot of the poem centers around the idea of sin, pray-suffering and redemption. It is a touching poem with a moral. The first sin ever committed a sailor and suffered for it. After so much suffering, he prayed to God and God forgave him. Marinero learned my lesson and told the others to show love and goodness of God's creation The albatross symbolizes Jesus Christ.The bird of the sea sailor was killed innocent camaraderie and hope for him and his colleagues:
And a good south wind sprung up behind;
The albatross has followed
And every day, for food or recreation,
Sailors Roll!
Similarly, the men of Jerusalem, crucified Christ, who is innocent and that his hope of being saved. The other sailors were shocked when they saw that the sailor was killedAlbatross:
And I had a hell
And woe to those who employ work ":
compulsory for all, I had killed the bird
This makes the wind blow.
Oh, you bastard! she was told to kill the birds,
This makes the wind blow!
Normally, the nightingale is a symbol of joy and happiness. But Keats wrote this poem when I was too affected by the disease. Although Nightingale has attempted happiness in his heart he knew he would die soon.Thus, symbols of death and oblivion in this poem. Keats called several times in Greek mythology. In this way he managed the nightingale, like a magic bird, which was not in pain. Thus, the bird is magical and free of human suffering. Keats wanted to like him and all his losses, pain and sadness. In his quest to end the pain is like the Buddha. Buddha has sought throughout his life, finding a free wayto achieve human suffering and redemption. Keats has the same goal and in this poem the nightingale has this problem alone is magical, that Keats knows what is human and not the nightingale.
In "Ode to a Nightingale" by Keats tries to make a good balance between feeling and thought. We find it extraordinary sensual passages, like the first time. Through the use of "sense" the word and invites the reader to think that it is also dormant.
The poet belowThe problems of human life, as in the third stanza:
"Sit down here, where men and hear each other groan;
Where palsy shakes a few sad hair, gray last
When the young thin pale ghost and died;
Where but to think is that they are full of sadness. "
Unlike Keats, Coleridge uses the moral teachings of Christianity in the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Has great value in the concept of sin and salvation contribute much. In fact, The Rime of the Ancient Marineris like a fairytale story that first appeared to be a child without a deeper meaning, but a closer examination allows the drive that contains the most profound moral teachings. The moral lesson of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner is as follows:
Reza better do you like best
All things great and small;
For the dear God who loves us
He made and loveth all.
Christianity teaches the same God and the love of his creations. No other religion is somuch emphasis on this type of love. The albatross is this love for the sea of joy, and happiness. Sun Albatros is a magic bird. And 'the bird that brings happiness and pleasant breeze, the sailors. The old sailor was acting selfishly and brutally murdered. Just thinking about her pleasure. Without even thinking of killing an innocent bird base. Not without food, but some lacked quality. He forgot thatAnd 'God was more powerful than any other. Surely God does not like who killed the bird, without cause.
God showed the sailors that no matter how much power a man possessed, should not be cruel to nature. If you do not humanity, would be punished. The punishment, the sailor has suffered was terrible. He suffered the worst kind of pain, loneliness and isolation. By nature, humans are social animals, being alone in a boat in aendless sea was sure to suffer terribly. He often wished he was dead, but not
An orphan pension curse that causes the hell
A spirit from on high;
But alas! terrible
And 'the curse of the eyes of a dead man!
Seven days and seven nights I saw that curse
And yet I could not die.
Only after the sailor knew his guilt and apologized deeply to God he was saved.
At a time when he could pray;
Ymy neck so free
The Albatross fell and fell
Like lead into the lake.
Coleridge in his personal life is not a very religious person, but in this poem that Christianity has a very great glory. Christianity is always asking his supporters to ask for forgiveness from God every day. If a person calls the center of your heart, God is always ready to forgive. The poem also shows the deep love for his country Coleridge, England. While most marinehis trip to England, he felt that going to heaven
Oh! Dream of joy! that is, in fact,
The lighthouse top I see?
Is this the hill? what the Church?
You Countree my account?
In summary we can say that the two poems are among the greatest poems in English literature Birds. The poets have used the birds as icons and put his own life. The birds are magical, but they contain little more magic. Guide us to anotherA dream world and the ideal world. The main difference between the two poets is that the nightingale, to have something in the sky by John Keats is clear and has no connection with human life every day, but it is something that is beyond our normal life. On the other side of the Albatross something of ST Coleridge, which is linked to our daily lives. The sailors fed and played with her. It 'was like his only friend in an endless sea.
