Driving a Hybrid Vehicle

The first thing you notice is when you turn on the key is that the car does not start at once. There is a delay as the computer starts the car. Another feature or quirk is that when you unlock the door there are strange sounds as the regenerative braking systems charges up. Idle for a few minutes and the engines dies. This is the strangest part of all about driving a hybrid. The feeling that something is wrong because the engine has died.

As you step on the gas there is almost no delay. Of course you are not really stepping on the gas, you are just telling the computer that you want to move. The electric motor then starts the car in motion.

The hybrid is a fun car to drive, you just have to first get used to the computer driving the car instead of you. If you are going under 40 and apply the brakes the engine will die, over 40 the engine runs all the time. When you accelerate to pass the electric motor will join with gas engine for additional power.

I drive the Ford hybrid Escape with 4 wheel drive and the MPG is a little lower than with the 2 wheel drive, I cannot reach the 33 MPG that it is rated for in the city. It is rated 29 MPG on the highway and I can get about 31 MPG by driving between 65 and 70 and not utilizing the cruse control. The cruse control accelerates to fast on hills. When I first got the Escape I tried very hard to not accelerate to fast in order to conserve fuel, however when I returned to normal driving in city traffic, I did improve the MPG from 26 to 28.

Sometimes, for no apparent reason at all the engine will race up to about 4 thousand RPM for a short period. The speed remains the same, it may be recharging the battery or some other unknown reason. This usually occurs at low speed. I did notice in the owners manual that it said not to be alarmed if the motor continues to run after you turned off the ignition, this could happen if the battery had been disconnected.

Some of the things that I dislike about my Escape is the space inside. There is no space between the front seats and the console. I have dropped my bank card between the driver seat and the console on several occasions and had to fish it out with a coat hanger. The cover that pulls over the cargo department in the rear just gets in the way. I have all but thrown it away.

I do not think that I am getting the most out of the high voltage battery. At traffic lights the car starts on the electric motor, but very slowly and if you ask for more take off speed the gas engine starts at once. It would be nice if the car would stay on the electric motor until you at least reach 40 MPH on a normal take off. The battery hardly ever runs down unless you are creeping in stop and go traffic.

How to replace windshield wipers on your vehicle

Sometimes you find that your wipers are not doing anything when it rains. Sometimes you can also make it difficult to see in these situations. It 'easy to change wiper blades once learned to do it.

First, make sure the right kind of windshield wipers. Most auto parts stores will be able to say or it will be a book you can find the make and model of your vehicle. You can vary the price a bit 'eight dollars.

When you find the right card is ready for change. First, remove one of the blades and take out the trash from the car. The arm and the blade will now be in a diagonal position and should be a clip on the bottom. To actually delete the cleaner, you must completely remove the latch, then lift the windshield wipers.

Then simply adjust to the new washing machine for the clip. Remember to replace the filter with the right size, had retired. Often, the driver of the first pageis greater than the passenger side. Repeat for the passenger and the passenger side. At the end, the disposal of old materials.

Now you can see through the window on rainy days. You will be pleased to know that you have a difficult time and without windows, and at least until you replace them again.

Hybrid Vehicle Tax Break - Get Up Now!

The tax break on hybrid cars that are available - but not for long. One of the main incentives for buying a hybrid car for the "federal tax credit that rewards your" green efforts. "The reason for the federal government is suddenly so generous because price increases in 2006, buyers are faced with. This means that fewer cars were sold.

And since the hybrid tax incentive program of the U.S. vehicle was launched by the federal government to beginhave an obligation to the American public, right? But do not expect that love will come with the new government ... The program goes belly up in April 2010.

Our Japanese friends outside of us developed shortly after President Clinton authorized the program in 1993. Japan's total domination of technology has led to the withdrawal of the total program of the U.S. automaker in 2001. Since then, the Toyota Prius was everywhere, not far from Hondabehind.

Where was the United States? Ford and many other car manufacturers in Detroit was quiet, with Toyota to license its technology. This is not a secret that the U.S. is playing "catch up", since Japan in almost all the technologies in the automotive industry for many years. And hybrid technology is no exception.

However, with the federal tax incentive to be a good deal, and is written in these good people who really care about the "good" hybrids will reward your choice. IeCars that improving the basis of their counterparts in gasoline alone. more gas savings, the higher the tax credit.

That's how I used to work:

Any person who, for a purchase of a hybrid vehicle in January 2006, are entitled to a tax credit up to $ 3,400, based on the vehicle in question, which compares the average purchased cars in its class and a weight of 2002. In particular, the tax credit for the purchase of $ 400 for every 25% improvement in efficiency obtained.

InYou can also credited with more money (up to $ 3,400) for the amount of fuel that the government is due to the size and weight of the car is based store.

But there was one drawback:

Of this total, only the first 60,000 vehicles sold by any other manufacturer. Some - such as Ford, for example, does not mean, 60,000 hybrid vehicles in mid-2007. Thus, each person would have to buy a Ford to get the credit.

Toyota was, however, aAnother story: It 'blew up with his 60,000 shares in a short time, so that the consumer is less federal tax credit. But once again, the Toyota Prius gas mileage is better than most Ford buyers who do not want Ford to be somewhere near the maximum tax credit of $ 3,400 anyway.

The tax credit on hybrid vehicles is likely to change in a not too distant future, though. I hope that the coverage of the meeting, with one or all. But what aboutfederal support for the consumer, we will do our part and still have a car with high mileage. Help us to escape the bottleneck of waiting in the Middle East on our economy!

Listed below, notice how Toyota and Honda are conspicuous by their absence: Ford is still eligible, but the credits are at the heart of the amounts Start April 1, 2009 defines the cut. In October 2009, the activities are again reduced by half and completely eliminated April 1, 2010.
